What is a baiting system (termite bait stations)?
A baiting system is a network of in-ground or above-ground stations installed around a structure to monitor for termites and deliver toxic bait cartridges that worker termites consume and transport back to their colony.
Termite baiting systems consist of bait stations installed either in-ground around a structure's perimeter or above-ground in interior spaces. Each station contains either a monitoring cartridge or an active bait cartridge. Monitoring cartridges use wood or cellulose to detect termite activity without delivering toxins. Once termites are found feeding in a monitoring station, technicians replace that cartridge with an active bait cartridge containing slow-acting toxins that worker termites ingest and carry back to the colony, where it spreads to other colony members.
